A Berry Good Harvest

We had the BEST all around berry harvesting year this year that I can ever remember. We started with strawberries...

16 pounds of them-- the first week of June!

Which turned into strawberry-rhubarb pie, frozen whole strawberries, jars and jars of jam ...

...and of course shortcake. This is the first year that we had our own fresh strawberries and blueberries together on the fourth of July!

And the blueberries, oh my the blueberries, 8 weeks of picking!!

And right now, second week of October, we're still harvesting several cups of raspberries each day from our back yard...

Harvesting them, not necessarily getting any of them into the house;-)

How were the berries where you live this year?

  2. Sadly, this was not a good year for berries here at ALL. I didn't get any strawberries to speak of, and very few blackberries. Blueberries were good though - my freezer is full of those, at least.

  3. Hi Pennie! We've been so lucky with the raspberries, and I do feel rich:-)

Amber~ what a bummer! I remember you teaching me about salmonberries last year... something I really want to try! You're due for a good crop next year:-)

  4. How wonderful!
Our gardens and fruit trees took a dip this year, but no worries! That means the next three will be great again. :)
